How to Book — and Book Well

    Book early — really early

Sleeper booking opens around 12 months ahead, versus 12 weeks for normal rail. Friday and Sunday cabins, and anything in summer, sell out first. The earlier you book, the more likely you are to get a room at the lowest fare.

Choose the room, not just the route

The cheapest fare is a seat. Decide your cabin tier up front: a Classic room is the value sweet spot; Club adds an en-suite; the Caledonian Double is the flagship. On European Nightjets, pick a couchette or a private sleeper.

    Use a Railcard

Most UK sleeper fares take a Railcard for up to a third off — the 16-25, Senior, Two Together and others. The Caledonian Double is the only cabin that carries no Railcard discount.

    No hidden fees here

We don't sell the ticket or add a fee — we send you to the operator's booking partner where the fare shown includes your cabin reservation, so there are no surprise supplements at checkout.

    Booking Questions, Answered

When should I book a sleeper train?

Booking usually opens around 12 months ahead — far earlier than normal UK rail's 12 weeks. The cheapest fares and the Friday and Sunday cabins sell out first, so the single best money-saving move is to book as early as your dates allow.

Does the fare include a bed?

The cheapest advertised fare is a reclining seat, not a bed. A bed means choosing a cabin tier — a Classic or Club room on the UK sleepers, or a couchette or private sleeper on European Nightjets — when you book. Pick the room, not just the route.

    Can I use a Railcard?

Yes — most UK sleeper fares accept a Railcard (16-25, Senior, Two Together and others) for up to a third off eligible fares. The one exception is the flagship Caledonian Double, which carries no Railcard discount.

    Are sleeper tickets refundable?

It depends on the fare type — sleeper cabins are demand-priced, so if your plans might change, choose a flexible fare. Delay compensation applies on the UK sleepers (typically 50% for 30–59 minutes, 100% for 60+).

Is there a booking fee on this site?

No. We send you to the operator or booking partner where the fare shown already includes your cabin reservation — no surprise supplements at checkout, and no fee added by us.
