Can you take a dog on the sleeper train?

Yes — the Caledonian Sleeper is dog-friendly, with conditions. Pets are welcome in private rooms only (not in reclining Seats and not in the Club Car), and there is a £30 charge per room to cover cleaning. Importantly this is charged per room, not per pet, and up to two pets may travel in the same room, so a single fee covers your dog. Recognised assistance dogs travel free and are welcome throughout, including in the Seated coach and Club Car. When booking, you add the pet option to a room reservation rather than a seat. Dogs must be kept off the beds and furniture, and on a lead in shared areas such as the station Guest Lounges, where they are also welcome. Because rooms are compact, the sleeper suits well-behaved dogs comfortable in a small overnight space; plan a comfort break before boarding and again on arrival, as there is no outdoor area on board. The GWR Night Riviera to Cornwall also carries dogs, so check that service separately if you're heading south-west. Always confirm the current pet policy and charge when you book, as fees and conditions can change.
