London to Edinburgh sleeper train: time, price and how to book

The London to Edinburgh sleeper is the Caledonian Sleeper's 'Lowlander' service, running overnight from London Euston to Edinburgh Waverley. It departs late — just before midnight (around 23:40–23:45) — and arrives into Edinburgh early the next morning, a journey of roughly seven and a half hours, letting you sleep through and start your day in the city. It runs six nights a week, Sunday to Friday, with no Saturday-night departure. Prices depend on how you travel and how early you book. The cheapest option is a reclining Seat from around £50–£54; a private Classic Room (twin bunks, washbasin) starts from roughly £165; a Club En-suite Room (private shower and toilet, breakfast included) from around £225; and the Caledonian Double, with a real double bed and en-suite, from about £360. Rooms are sold per room, so two sharing get better value. Reservations are compulsory, and tickets go on sale up to 12 months ahead, with the lowest fares snapped up earliest — so book as far in advance as you can and favour midweek nights. Southbound, an equivalent train leaves Edinburgh in the evening and reaches London in the morning. Times and fares change with demand, so always check the live time and price for your date.
