London to Penzance sleeper train (Night Riviera): time, price and how to book

The London to Penzance sleeper is GWR's Night Riviera, running overnight from London Paddington down through Devon and Cornwall to Penzance, calling at stops including Plymouth, Truro and St Erth. It departs late in the evening from Paddington (around 23:45) and arrives in Penzance the following morning, so you wake up in Cornwall ready for the day. Like the Scottish sleeper, it runs six nights a week, Sunday to Friday, with no Saturday-night departure. You can travel two ways: in a reclining standard-class Seat, the cheapest option, or in a private sleeping cabin with a bed, bedding, washbasin and a complimentary light breakfast, plus access to the First Class lounges and showers at Paddington, Truro and Penzance (there are no showers on the train itself). Cabin fares are dynamic and start from around £116, though single-berth and promotional prices are sometimes advertised lower, while seats are considerably cheaper. Reserve through GWR or a rail retailer; cabins are limited and the best fares sell early, so book ahead, ideally midweek. Northbound, an equivalent service runs from Penzance to London overnight. Always check the exact departure time and current price for your travel date, as timetables and fares change between periods.
